Toys4Engineers 2024

Thanks to all the exhibitors, speakers and attendees who travelled to the Toys4Engineers Expo & Conference in the SETU Arena earlier this month. Its a really import event for the Engineering the South East Cluster as its a fantastic way for us to showcase the world class engineering and manufacturing capabilities of the South East as a region. As ever there was a great local feel to the event and plenty of new connections were made.

 

Automation Sub-Group October Meet-up

 

Thanks to Paul Clancy and the team at Teva Pharmaceuticals Waterford for hosting the October meeting of the Clusters Automation Sub group. Great to learn about how they have approached their modernization journey and how they are using production line connectivity to support the factory of the future. Thanks to all the industry representatives who travelled on the day. Looking forward to the next group meeting.

Upcoming Electrical Safety Training – City & Guilds Assured & Engineers Ireland Approved Courses

Powerpoint Engineering have a series of electrical training programmes next month which are all accredited and will be held in Portlaoise.  Courses are City & Guilds Assured and take place at their purpose-built training facility, featuring a practical demonstration area with switchgear and circuit breakers.

Skillnets in the South East (Carlow Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford & Tipperary) are offering a range of useful short courses in the coming weeks that are applicable to a range of manufacturing and engineering companies. A sample of courses starting shortly are listed here

Launch Event for the TU-RISE initiative

SETU was recently awarded €13.6 million to implement the TU RISE project. The main objective of TU Rise is to help SETU “engage effectively with enterprise and the region, delivering innovation and knowledge transfer via enhanced Research & Innovation support and training infrastructure, underpinned by robust governance”

The initiative will focus on areas of key economic importance for the region such as Advanced Manufacturing, ICT, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, Eco-Innovation and Financial Services.

Specialist Root Cause Analysis Training - Wexford Skillnet

Wexford Skillnet have an upcoming short course in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) that will be of interest to manufacturing companies in the area.

RCA is an essential component of any world-class, continuous improvement program and ISO 55000 states that an effective RCA process is a key component of the asset lifecycle management strategy.

This course is designed to strengthen the foundations of Effective Problem Solving by providing advanced knowledge and skills utilizing Apollo RCA™ methodology and RC Pro® / RealityCharting® software to help prevent and eliminate problems from reoccurring.

Apprenticeship Employer Expo @ SETU Arena

Well done to the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board who held a very successful “Generation Apprenticeship Employer Expo” at the SETU Arena last week. The idea of the event was to  give future apprentices an opportunity to meet with possible employers and discuss everything involved in their apprenticeship program.

Applications open for New Frontiers  

 

South East Technological University, Carlow Campus(Xcelerate Centre), in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland is currently recruiting for Phase 1 of its 2024 New Frontiers Programme for Entrepreneurs.

Phase 1 is an online part-time programme that helps entrepreneurs to research and test the market potential of their business idea and is held over 5weeks on a Tuesday evening from 5-8pm.
