PALESTINE: THE POLITICAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONTEXTS
OF CAREER DECISION-MAKING
ESSAY
ESSAY
IN MEMORY OF DR RONALD SULTANA
Contexts shape our lives. Our capacity to envision our future, our hopes, our planning, and our ability to put plans into action, are all influenced by the political, economic, and social environments in which we live. This applies to Palestinian people, now mainly living in refugee camps in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, for three generations. Ronald Sultana was a great advocate for the Palestinian people. This essay, written in memory of Ronald, traces the historical, legal, and economic contexts in which Palestinians live against the backdrop of the current destruction of life, properties, and businesses in Gaza and the West Bank by the Israelis.
Wishing courage, safety, freedom, self-determination, and independence
to the people of Ukraine and all of its territory, and parity of esteem for Palestinian and Israeli lives.
