TUS Clonmel Digital Animation students win DIFF AwardTechnoligical University of the Shannon TUS

Ahead of the 2023 Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) running from February 23rd to March 4th, Limerick School of Art & Design (LSAD), TUS and the iconic festival hosted a special preview screening of nominated student films at the TUS Millennium Theatre in Limerick. The event showcased the emerging student film-making talent in the region and featured film industry panel discussions and live musical performances.

Commenting on the event, LSAD Lecturer and Programme Leader, Muireann de Barra, said, “We are delighted to work with Dublin International Film Festival to recognise and celebrate the emerging student film-making talent alongside leading and award-winning filmmakers. This is the first time a DIFF event of this scale has been held outside of Dublin which we are very proud of. This special preview event recognises a new generation of emerging filmmakers and encourages students from TUS and other Colleges and Higher Education Institutions around Ireland to share the prestigious Dublin International Film Festival as a platform to showcase their work.”

On the day, TUS was delighted to see Digital Animation students Annora Dsouza, Remi Noonan, Leigh Anne Culverwell and Rinky Nurul, based at TUS Clonmel campus awarded Best Animation at the DIFF First Frame awards 2023. Congratulating the students on their win, James Greenslade, Head of Department of Digital Arts and Media at TUS said “I’m delighted to congratulate Remi, Annora, Rinky and Leigh Anne on their Best Animation award at DIFF23 First Frame. Their film 'Nico', made in their second year of the Level 8 honours degree in Digital Animation and in conjunction with our long-term partners, the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival, tackles the hidden history of a character in a way that animation really allows. We congratulate all the films screened from the Digital Arts and Media Department of LSAD”.
