Innovative Bee Monitoring Technology

Our innovative bee monitoring technology had its beginnings in University College Cork and has since collated over 15 million data sets from across the world. Inspired by Irish beekeepers, our CEO Dr Fiona Edwards Murphy developed her award-winning PhD into a bee monitoring product for commercial and hobbyist beekeepers.

Founded in 2017 in Cork Ireland, this technology aims to revolutionise beekeeping around the world. Led by co-founders CEO Dr Fiona Edwards Murphy and CSO Dr Pádraig Whelan, ApisProtect employs a team of eight engineers, scientists and business development experts based in the Rubicon Centre in the Munster Technological University.

Dr Edwards Murphy completed her PhD with the School of Engineering, and the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at University College Cork in the area of Internet of Things applications for honey bee health. Fiona is a graduate of the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BE) Honours at UCC.

Headquartered in Cork Ireland, capitalising on innovative and award-winning academic research, ApisProtect uses cutting-edge science, engineering, and advanced business processes to bring beehive monitoring technology to every corner of the globe.
