Aug 11th - Learn About Dyslexia in the Workplace

The WAM programme at AHEAD are running a free online session to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia run in partnership with Dyslexia Association of Ireland.

When: Wednesday 11th August from 11.30-1.00pm

Speaker Information: Caoimhe O’ Malley, B.A. (Hons), M.A., Single B.A., Higher Diploma in Education, is the Senior Adult Dyslexia Coordinator for The Dyslexia Association of Ireland. She is responsible for the development of dyslexia supports for adults including the development of in-person and online training to be delivered across the Adult Education (Further Education and Training (FETs) and Higher Education (HEIs)and Employment sectors.

Prior to joining DAI, Caoimhe has worked in the area of education, her main focus being the non-traditional student, ensuring equal access to education for all and that the correct supports are in place so that all students can reach their full potential, and enjoy their educational journey.

Aim: The aim of this session is to raise awareness of dyslexia and to help attendees develop a deeper understanding, while providing practical tips to assist the creation of a dyslexia friendly workplace.

RAPP - Reasonable Accommodations, Professional Placements and National Competence Standards

RAPP Project - Participants Needed!

We are seeking disabled students or graduates from Further Education who have completed a Professional Work Placement as part of their course to inform best practice guidelines which will reduce barriers to students going forward.

Some examples of a professional work placement courses might include: Nursing/Midwifery Courses, Early Childhood Care, Pre-Teaching, Animal Care, Social Care/Work, Veterinary, Pharmacy Assistant, Horticulture.

The work placement must have been an essential assessed or examined part of the course and was graded.

Closing July 28th - Data Analytics Coordinator

We have an opportunity open for applications with new employer Innopharma for a Data Analytics Coordinator.

This position will be for 6 months and they are seeking graduates with qualifications in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics or other relevant technical discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse end of semester and end of year student survey’s and prepare reports for Programme Review teams
  • Analyse grade data and prepare reports for Programme Leads / Head of Faculty
  • Support the annual self-assessment report through provision of data from various sources which is gathered throughout the year through surveys.
  • Provide reports on student outcomes based on data gathered by programme manager
  • Key Skills
  • Ability to analyse data and utilise data visualisation to present data in a meaningful way
  • Critical Thinking skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to analyse data using statistical techniques and providing reports.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in data.

A recent AHEAD survey found that almost half of employers believe it’s a breach of trust if applicant does not disclose their disability, but it can be a difficult decision for jobseekers whether or not to disclose and this is important to be aware of and consider.
