Updates from NCCA May 2024

Issue 46 - May 2024
A Chairde,

As the welcome signs of summer appear, we bring you our final newsletter for this school year.

This info@ncca includes details of two reports on our extensive consultation on the proposals to update Aistear. Take a look at the ground-breaking methodology used to hear what babies, toddlers and young children had to tell us. Staying with consultations, have you had a chance yet to read the draft primary curriculum specifications? There’s still time to share your thoughts to help shape the next curriculum. Children have been busy telling us, very clearly, about what they want to learn and how they want to learn.

As well as consultation, research shapes curriculum and assessment. One such study is the longitudinal research exploring schools’ implementation of the Framework for Junior Cycle. Click on the link to the third interim report.

We’ve also been busy in the language space with links below to the text lists now finalised for Leaving Certificate English, Italian and Spanish. You might also be interested in the report on Sign Language in other jurisdictions.
Encouraged by your positive response to our staff spotlight, we introduce you to two more  NCCA staff.

Sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to our consultations, research, and development work this year. We hope you have a great break over the summer and we look forward to bringing you more curriculum and assessment news in October.
