Understanding Online Sexual Abuse
Clinical implications of working with the victim and offender

This workshop will begin by discussing online sexual abuse for victims, followed by online sexual offending by the perpetrator.
It will then focus specifically on the therapist in this relationship. The challenge of acknowledging our own biases from the social “GGRRAAACCEEESSS”
(Burnham:2014) perspective which considers cultural, race, religion, sex, gender, and ethnical stance.
Finally, the workshop will give an overview of what the research informs about the interventions for this client group.
Eileen is the Clinical Director at One in Four, and she has been employed in this organisation since 2005. She has over 20 years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings. During the past twelve years, she has worked with individuals who have been impacted by all aspects of sexual violence. The work involves offering support to victims, offenders and families of both. Prior to joining One in Four Eileen worked in private practice and with Family Resource centres.
