The New Academic Year in LYITLetterkenny IT

Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) looking forward to the welcoming incoming and returning students

As the new academic year approaches, Letterkenny Institute of Technology is busy preparing to welcome new and returning students to the LYIT campuses. Campus life will be a little different this year, in line with public health guidelines, with LYIT offering face-to-face and on-line delivery.

A range of measures have been implemented on campus to ensure the safe return of students and during this academic year LYIT will adopt a blended learning model with a combination of remote/online learning and face-to-face delivery.

Students will return to the LYIT campuses on Monday 28 September, Paul Hannigan, LYIT President and Mary Hernandez, LYIT Student Union President are reminding students that the LYIT staff are looking forward to welcoming new, and returning students, to the LYIT campuses. The balance of hours will include a mix of online classes, on site tutorials and practicals for the 3,500 full-time and 1,000 part-time students.

Paul Hannigan and Mary Hernandez came together recently to record a ‘welcome video’ to reassure returning and new students that the LYIT campuses are ready and waiting for the safe return of students. They advise students to visit the LYIT website over the coming days for their timetable information and to start planning for the academic year ahead.

Paul Hannigan, outlined, “We have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes making sure our campuses will be safe; through social distancing, face coverings and careful timetabling. I am encouraging students to take up their offer from LYIT this year and to proceed with their college plan.”

Mary Hernandez, commented, “LYIT Student Union is available at this time to support students with their plans for the year ahead, if you need advice or information on grants; accommodation and student support services available at LYIT, be sure to contact the Student Union directly. The Student Union is here to support all students, particularly during this challenging time.”

LYIT will host a series of online and virtual events from Monday 7 to Monday 14 September and if you need support or assistance with your CAO offer and results contact [email protected] or [email protected]
