SAVE THE DATE: STEPS Engineers Week 2024

We are delighted to announce that STEPS Engineers Week 2024 will take place from Saturday, 2 - Friday, 8 March 2024.

STEPS Engineers Week will take place nationwide from Saturday, 2 - Friday, 8 March 2024. STEPS Engineers Week, now preparing for its 18th year, gives children the opportunity to discover engineering, facilitated by their teachers, parents and local community.

During STEPS Engineers Week themed lessons are taught in primary and secondary school classrooms across the country to help children discover the exciting world of engineering in Ireland. Engineering companies, third-level institutions and the public sector are also encouraged to get involved and engage with schools about engineering in their local communities.

HOW CAN YOU TAKE PART IN STEPS ENGINEERS WEEK 2024?

  • Engineering professionals are encouraged to adopt a local school during STEPS Engineers Week. STEPS will support organisers by providing engineering organisations with guides, tools, and training videos on how to adopt a local school for an in-school, in-organisation, or online digital visit.
  • Teachers are encouraged to carry out an engineering themed activity with students during STEPS Engineers Week. STEPS will provide organisers with free downloadable resources and hands on engineering activities to carry out with primary and secondary school children.
  • Parents and Guardians can attend our STEPS Engineers Week family fairs which take place around the country. Join a wide range of STEM performers for interactive displays, workshops and demonstrations for all the family to enjoy.
  • Libraries are encouraged to plan and carry out their own engineering activities for young people in the community. STEPS will help empower libraries to communicate effectively about engineering and will provide libraries with hands on engineering activities to carry out with primary and secondary school children.

Keep and eye on emails from the STEPS mailing list to receive information about STEPS Engineers Week 2024 and free resources when launched in the lead up to the week from our website.

The initiative is coordinated by Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme – a non-profit outreach programme that promotes interest and awareness in engineering to school students. STEPS is funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and industry leaders Arup, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ESB, Intel, and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
