Up to 80% Funded Suite of MicroCreds Announced Across Higher Education

Killarney Hotels Unite to Enhance Skills Base
Following our November Skills Planning Round-Table with Killarney Hotels, Regional Skills has facilitated delivery of a packaged suite of funded courses to further strengthen the region’s hospitality talent base in advance of the busy tourist season.  From barrista & mixology to supervisory management & customer care, there has been excellent uptake of these shared, locally delivered Kerry ETB, IHF Skillnet and Fáilte Ireland courses as hotels & employers collaborate to build the talent they need. Record Apprenticeship Numbers in 2023
A record 8,712 new apprentices registered in 2023. With a total apprentice population of 27,470 and 9,200 apprentice employers by year-end, eliminating phase 2 delays and driving forward implementation of the single integrated apprenticeship system are two of the 2024 priorities in addition to delivering on the 17 new proposed apprenticeships in construction, digital marketing, automation, ICT and more. Click here for more details. 
2023 South-West Labour Market at a Glance
2023 saw 5% increase in overall employment across the South-West with a substantial 36% increase in employment across accommodation & food and 3% across whole sale and retail.   Small employment declines were noted in construction, industry and health with all three still remaining amongst the top five largest employing sectors in the region.  For a full overview of the South-West labour market in 2023, click here
