Strong demand for engineering skills in the South East 
The South East has significant manufacturing, engineering and construction sectors. 42,400 are employed in these sectors in the SE (CSO Q4 2018) equating to 10% of the national workforce in these sectors. It is no surprise therefore that engineering skills are in the highest demand in the region. See Engineers Ireland National Report Feb 2019.

Ireland South East – Economy at a glance
Steady economic progress, record levels of employment, a very cost competitive region offering a great quality of life are highlighted in the first Statistical Bulletin from the Ireland South East Development Office here

Professional Graduate Programme
A new Professional Graduate Programme is now available to SMEs in the South East. In response to demand from enterprises to attract and develop graduates within their companies, IT Carlow with support from Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet is now enrolling for this programme to start September 2019. Further Education & Training Options for Industry
To address any confusion about all the options available to industry to upskill staff, the South East Regional Skills Forum has produced a new ‘infographic’ to help explain what is available. See the infographic here.

New Construction Site Management programme in WIT in response to Industry Demand
Responding to a recognised regional skills shortage of qualified Construction Managers, WIT has recently launched a new part-time level 7 BSc in Construction Site Management.  The course targets the busy Tradesperson, Foreman or Site Manager, who want to upskill whilst maintaining their employment.
