Sociological and Political Workshop for Students
During March and April 2019, Carlow College, St. Patrick’s are holding a series of workshops which have been developed in conjunction with our Degree in Social, Political and Community Studies. The workshops which are aimed at 4th, 5th and 6th year students and will engage them in sociological and political issues. They will explore human rights, equality and social change with the impact of social media and our ‘always on’ culture.
On completion students will have enhanced social awareness along with enhanced practical skills. The workshops will be facilitated by Stephanie Hanlon. Stephanie is a Lecturer on our Social, Political and Community Studies degree and specialises in Direct Provision in Ireland, Immigration Policy, Social Policy, Citizenship and Immigration. She has worked with refugees and asylum seekers for 10 years, was the Irish and European Ambassador for the No Hate Speech Movement and has worked with the Gender Quality Unit in the Council of Europe. Stephanie is happy to work with schools to focus on particular curriculum subjects.
