As the Government's leading workforce development agency, we have been focused on actively engaging with businesses, academic organisations, and a range of industry partners across the economy to develop the innovative upskilling solutions businesses need to succeed.  

Some of our latest news includes the launch of the new Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) programme, the launch of Europe’s first end-to-end Sterility Postgraduate programme for the Medtech sector, and a collaborative SME Diversity initiative from Skillnet Business Networks. Minister Harris announces new programme in Modern Methods of Construction to provide critical skills

Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) are critical to delivering on the Government’s Housing for All and Project 2040 targets. Construction Professionals Skillnet, in collaboration with Skillnet Ireland and Griffith College Dublin, have launched a new programme to support the industry’s need to upskill in MMC.

Irish business leaders call for new sustainable leadership approach to fit post-pandemic workplace

A new research report, ‘Sustainable Leadership for a Post-Digital Age’ by ICBE Business Excellence Skillnet, developed in partnership with Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick, offers a clear picture of the importance of sustainable leadership in steering an organisation in uncertain times. It also provides insights directly from leaders themselves about leadership in Ireland today.

 
National skills platform will help close Ireland’s digital skills gap 

Skillnet Ireland has partnered with Learnovate and Cisco to create the first national digital and data skills platform in Ireland. A shortage of core digital and data skills was identified through a series of workshops with Irish businesses. This new platform aims to provide solutions to these industry challenges and to help address the digital skills gap in Ireland. 

 
 
Europe's first end-to-end sterility assurance postgraduate launched in Galway

The first-ever Postgraduate Certificate in End-to-End Sterility Assurance in Europe, which was developed by Irish Medtech Skillnet in partnership with Skillnet Ireland, the Irish Medtech Association and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) launched recently in Galway.

 
 
Accelerated Growth Through Increased Investment in Workforce Development

An independent evaluation by Indecon of Skillnet Ireland’s activities in 2019-2020 shows that, despite economic challenges, we demonstrated strong growth in response to enterprise demands for talent development. We will continue to support SMEs with industry-led talent solutions.

 
 
Driving business growth from mentoring engagements: ISME Skillnet and Horan's Healthcare Case Study

Learn how Horan's Healthstores were able to drive business growth by participating in the ISME Skillnet Back in Business Mentoring and Coaching Programme. By engaging with expert mentors, the team were able to develop their leadership skills and create a competitive digital proposition.  

 
New Skillnet programme helps businesses to 'invest in diversity' 

Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet, Waterford Chamber Skillnet and Cork Chamber Skillnet, with support from Skillnet Ireland, celebrated the first cohort of 22 companies to complete a new programme developed with the Irish Centre for Diversity (ICD). The industry-led programme is designed to equip senior managers with the knowledge and skills required to create more inclusive and diverse workplaces.


 
 
New report reveals strong demand for ESG talent development within the Irish Insurance Industry

A new report by Sustainable Finance Skillnet launched today reveals a strong demand for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) talent development in the Irish insurance industry. The report is supported by Skillnet Ireland and authored by KPMG Ireland, with industry-wide collaboration between Brokers Ireland, LIA, The Insurance Institute, and Insurance Ireland.

New research on teaching and learning modalities for CPD (Continuous Professional Development) in the long-term care (LTC) sector, by LHP Skillnet and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), examines the attitudes and experiences of healthcare workers in the sector.
