We are also pleased to bring you details of an exciting new summer camp for TY and Senior Cycle Students in June entitled ‘Inventioneers Summer Camp’. CAO Change of mind Event - 28th June 2022 12-3pm, Tuesday 28th June We invite your students to join our Change of Mind event on 28th June and get some tips on enrolling in college, orientation, moving to Galway, settling into college life and making new friends. A Q&A session will also be available on the day for any last minute questions ahead of the CAO deadline. Ukrainian support As a University of Sanctuary, NUI Galway welcomes the establishment of the National Steering Committee for Education to help Ukrainian scholars, students and researchers who have fled to Ireland.. In line with our commitment to accessibility, inclusivity and engaging openly with the world as laid out in the NUI Galway Strategy, our new Ukrainian UMT sub-group have agreed on a number of measures to help scholars and students fleeing from the conflict. Minister Harris has confirmed that a National Student & Researcher Helpdesk is being established by the Department FHERIS on behalf of the higher education sector. We are pleased to work with Maynooth University which will host the centralised helpdesk and one-stop-shop for all incoming refugees, students and researchers. The helpdesk will offer the following supports: The helpdesk will take a few weeks to get up and running. In the meantime, we have three online forms available on our website for those Ukrainian scholars, students and researchers who want to register interest in NUI Galway. We will then be able to guide and support them through the next steps once the help desk is opened. Accommodation update Corrib Village and Goldcrest Village, NUI Galway’s campus residences, are fully booked for the academic year 2022/23. However, it is still possible, to join a waiting list. Please see here for information. ![]() ![]() ![]() Ideas Lab - Summer Camp for Secondary Schools ![]() NUI Galway in partnership with the HEA, is launching the Inventioneers Summer Camp from 7th – 10th June 2022. The Inventioneers Summer Camp is for second level students in transition year and senior cycle who want to solve everyday problems related to sustainability in extraordinary ways. The camp will run daily from 10:00am – 3:00pm from the 7th -10th June 2022 in IdeasLab on the NUI Galway campus. Places are limited and is free to attend. Those interested in attending the Inventioneers summer camp can register by Friday 27th May at: theinventioneers.eventbrite.ie Change of name And finally, many of you nominated students from your school to take part in a consultation process on renaming the university and I’m please to inform you that NUI Galway will be renamed 'Ollscoil na Gaillimhe, University of Galway.' The new name will be officially launched in early Autumn 2022. "This university has been in Galway and of Galway since the mid-nineteenth century.
