The DCU Library Leaving Certificate Study Scheme allows sixth year students to access O'Reilly Library and Cregan Library for study between 7th May and 25th June. Details via the button below
DCU Library is also delighted to present our successful Leaving Certificate Masterclasses: tips, tricks and tactics again this year. Aisling Sheeran will provide support for the Irish paper 1 and 2 examinations on Wednesday 8th May. Dave Rudden will provide support for English paper 1 and 2 on Tuesday 9th May. These sessions will take place in Cregan Library, on the St Patrick’s campus in Drumcondra. The masterclasses are free but spaces are limited. Details via the button below.
Two subjects equally, over three years, or four years with INTRA work placement or study abroad. For the undecided student - you don’t need to specify exactly which subjects on the CAO form. If you apply, for example for Joint Hons Media (DC291 - H4 in English required)), you don’t need to choose the other subject (English, French (H4), Spanish (H4), German (H4) or Politics) until you enrol.
Other courses involving more than one subject - EPL, and, logically, the post primary teaching courses.
They are all great ways of filling your CAO while keeping your longer term options flexible.
See page 32 of the CAO handbook for guidance on the process.
Number of Leaving Cert subjects
DCU General Entry Requirements include a minimum of six Leaving Certificate subjects at Grade 06/H7. This applies to all courses, even those with lower points requirements!
School Visits
We continue to visit schools for presentations and fairs. You are very welcome to tag us @team.dcu on Instagram and @teamdcu on X/Twitter.
We will host two Parent/Guardian Information Evenings, in April and May.
These in-person sessions are designed to support parents/guardians of students who are considering Level 8 (university) study after their Leaving Certificate. We hope the sessions will help those parents/guardians who have not been through the CAO process already, and/or those who wish to refresh their knowledge.
Thursday 25th April, 7pm - 8.45pm, DCU Glasnevin Campus
Thursday 23rd May, 7pm - 8.45pm, DCU St Patrick’s Campus
If your school can no longer attend, please let us know. We have a waiting list for this popular event. Those of you attending - we are developing special events for you, teachers and SNAs, and look forward to seeing you!
