Change in Entry Requirements for Entry 2019Dublin City University

BA in International Relations (IR) Programme (www.dcu.ie/DC231)

There will be no change to the general entry requirements of the programme, but once students arrive to register, if they want to choose the Languages Stream, they will need to have achieved a Leaving Cert H4 or equivalent in the language they wish to study.

Do you love languages? Have you considered becoming a language teacher? Did you know there was a shortage of second level language teachers?

Bachelor of Education in Gaeilge, and French or German or Spanish

Baitsiléir Oideachais i nGaeilge, agus Fraincis nó Gearmáinis nó Spáinnis

This four-year Post Primary Teacher Education [Gaeilge and French, German or Spanish] degree is a ‘concurrent’ teacher education course – meaning that the academic and professional formation of the teacher is integrated into all four years. It will fully qualify you to teach second-level Gaeilge and another language on completion of the course. You’ll gain valuable and extensive experience, including peer-teaching, team-teaching and school-based placement.

Tá ganntanas múinteoirí teanga in iar-bhunscoileanna na hÉireann san am i láthair agus beidh ardéileamh ar chéimithe an chúrsa seo dá bharr sin. Cabhróidh cur chuige sainiúil an chúrsa seo leat ardchumas a bhaint amach sa Ghaeilge agus sa teanga eile a roghnóidh tú, rud a fhágfaidh go mbeidh tú i do mhúinteoir muiníneach, éifeachtach. Beidh tú breá cáilithe cosán rathúil a leanúint i réimse gairmeacha eile freisin.

Currently, there is a shortage of language teachers in the post-primary schools so graduates of this course will be highly sought after. The unique approach taken in this course will enable you to reach a high level of ability in Gaeilge and your chosen language enabling you to be a confident and effective language teacher.
