CMETB add new and exciting Traineeships to their suite of offerings!
A Career Traineeship is an occupational skills development training programme that is tailored to the identified needs of a specific industry sector or sub-sector and leads to nationally recognised qualifications. Career Traineeships combine directed off-the-job training (classroom-based learning) with on-the-job training (work-based learning) delivered in a host company. This approach provides trainees with the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and competence within a supportive working environment.
Over the last number of years Cavan and Monaghan ETB are working with employers in both counties assessing the skills gap and developing Traineeship programmes to meet industry needs.
Speaking about the Traineeships, CMETB Training Services Manager, Sinead McKenna explained more about the benefits to students and employers in the region: Career Traineeships includes classroom-based learning phase and work based learning in the host company. Applicants may eligible for a training, travel and meal allowance or company bursary. Career Traineeships are fully funded by the European Support Fund so there are no course fees. Graduates of such courses increase their prospects of employment after successfully completing the traineeship and undertaking an interview with the company. All Traineeships are free and full-time, Monday to Friday and last approximately 48 weeks with a minimum of 30% work placement.
