Waterford Institute of Technology’s Department of Education is offering the BA (Hons) in Community Education and Development commencing in January 2019. This is a 60 credit Level 8 programme that enables people working in the community and voluntary sector and associated service areas to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies to become effective community practitioners and leaders. Throughout this highly interactive programme, participants are encouraged to work collectively to develop their knowledge, attributes and practical skills and to enhance their own community practice.
Programme Outline: The programme will be delivered over 18 months and comprises the following modules:
- Community Development and Practice
- Community Education in Context
- Community Workplace in Practice
- Irish Society and Social Change
- Social Research Methods for Practitioners
Programme Fee: €370 per 10-credit module.
Entry Criteria: The programme is open to anyone who has completed a Level 7 in Community Education and Development. Applications are welcomed from people who may have the appropriate level of knowledge and experience and who may wish to apply for recognition of prior learning (advanced entry or exemptions)
