MIC Student Experience Days -
Register Now!

Want to get a taste of student life? Join us in April for the MIC Student Experience Days!

The MIC Thurles Student Experience Day will take place on Saturday 22 April (10am-3pm). You'll get to tour our Thurles campus and attend taster lectures. You'll also hear first-hand from current students about what it's like to study at MIC Thurles.

The MIC Limerick Student Experience Day will take place on Thursday 27 April (10am-1pm). Current students will be sharing their experiences and you'll get to explore our Limerick campus. There'll also be lots of information stands where you can find out all you need to know about our undergraduate programmes and student supports.

So, whether you're in transition year and thinking ahead to third-level, or a CAO applicant considering your choices, the MIC Student Experience Days are not to be missed!

Information Session for Mature Students

Are you over 23 and thinking of returning to education? Join us at our Limerick campus on 30 March (11am-12.30pm) to find out all about MIC’s pathways to third-level education, as well as the financial supports available for mature students.

Additional Places Added to Primary Teaching Programmes

As of September 2023 we will offer an additional 30 applicants a place on our Bachelor of Education (MI005/MI006) programmes.

This means that we will now welcome up to 435 students onto our B Ed programmes, thereby making a career in primary teaching more accessible and attainable than ever before.

Scholarships & Sports Schemes

Uversity Scholarships
Uversity's Scholarships are for adult learners who wish to complete a bachelor’s degree for the first time. Those without children are eligible for a €5,000 scholarship and those with children can qualify for €7,000. Apply by 26 March.

CAO Points Concession Sports Scheme
Up to 10 places across all undergraduate programmes will be reserved this year under our CAO Points Concession Sports Scheme for students who have excelled in their chosen sport. Successful applicants may be eligible for a points reduction of up to 40 points below the first round CAO points cut-off for the programme they have applied for. Apply by 1 May.

Sports Scholarships

Our Elite Sport Scholarship Scheme is designed for students who have excelled in their chosen sport. This year MIC is offering five scholarships.

- 1 X Gold Scholarship valued at €4,000
- 2 X Silver Scholarships valued at €2,000 each
- 2 X Bronze Scholarships valued at €1,000 each

Ashling Murphy Scholarship
The Ashling Murphy Scholarship, valued at €4,000, will be awarded to an incoming Bachelor of Education student for their exceptional achievement and talent in the field of traditional Irish music. This scholarship, which is jointly funded by MIC and the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO), is in memory of MIC graduate Ashling Murphy who was tragically killed last year. Apply by 1 September.

Entrance Scholarships
Each year, MIC awards up to 50 Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships, valued at €2,000 each, on the basis of results obtained in the Leaving Certificate. Only performance in the six best subjects taken at the same sitting of the Leaving Certificate will be counted. No special application form is required and successful students will be notified directly.
