Don’t Miss a Fabulous Free Showcase of Creativity at DkIT

 

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT will launch their annual Fís exhibition at 6pm on Thursday 1 June at the Carrolls Building on campus. The Institute are thrilled to open the invitation to all who wish to attend this not to be missed celebration of student’s creativity.

 

This year’s graduate showcase will feature the creative and innovative work of students from the BA Creative Media and BA (Hons) Creative Media. The projects and installations being exhibited and screened will represent the diverse creative skills of the students and are of interest to a wide audience. This exhibition allows students the opportunity to showcase their work to family, friends and industry representatives who will be in attendance at the launch.

 

Speaking about the launch of Fís 23, Dr Adèle Commins, Head of Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, noted the exceptional work produced by students on the Creative Media programmes: “I am always astounded by their imagination and creativity in producing excellent projects that innovatively portray a range of current themes and issues. Fís is always a lovely event to celebrate the achievements of our students as they exhibit their creativity and bring together all the skills they have learned on their programme of study. I warmly encourage everyone to join with us to experience and try out some of the projects being exhibited this year”.

 

Curator for Fís 23, JJ Quinlan, Lecturer in Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, notes that “It is truly inspiring to witness the culmination of students’ dedication as they unite for a significant occasion such as Fís 23. The diverse array of projects on display not only showcases their genuine skill but also reflects their eagerness to embrace the boundless potential of technology. I eagerly anticipate witnessing these students’ remarkable journey as they embark on their professional careers and impress prospective employers with their exceptional talents”.

 

The projects being exhibited this year cover a range of themes including addiction in video games, mental wellbeing and carpooling etiquette and the concepts are portrayed in everything from immersive video, websites, photographs, animation and video games.

 

The exhibits include.

 

OCD Interactive: Offering a first-person perspective, this project provides an immersive guide that gives a unique glimpse into the daily life of someone living with OCD using an interactive video.

 

Gas - The Carpool Collective: Gas is an interactive and informative carpool website. The platform offers students a creative way to optimize their travel experiences. Gas features a wealth of helpful tips on carpooling etiquette, ensuring that students can carpool efficiently and effectively.

 

Photography: Joan McEnaney has focused her project on photography. Her captivating project showcases a collection of stylized photography and design tailored for the indie rock music industry.

 

You Don’t Have To Do It Alone: Experience a captivating exploration of mental wellbeing through uplifting animations. "You Don't Have To Do It Alone" is a heart-warming short animation.  Immerse yourself in this animated journey of resilience and find inspiration in the transformative impact of companionship.

 

Flint Inc.: Flint Inc. presents a captivating video game Interface mock-up designed to raise awareness about addiction in video games.

 

Fís is a wonderful opportunity for both industry leaders and local communities to come together and enjoy creativity and the arts in the creative hub of Dundalk Institute of Technology.
