New Year, New You, With DkIT Part-Time Learning
January 2023 is the perfect time to start thinking about a part-time course at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT). Whether you are looking for a career change, a new job, a promotion or just the challenge of learning something new, DkIT offers flexible industry renowned online or on-campus learning to suit you. DkIT has a strong and proud legacy of flexible and professional part-time education which gives you greater control over your learning journey, allowing you to balance work with other commitments and study at a pace that suits you.
Established in 2000 DkIT’s Lifelong Learning Centre co-ordinates the part-time course offering for the Institute where now one-in-five of our student body is a part-time or flexible learner. With new courses being developed every year in areas such as supply chain management, data analytics, computer animation, early childhood studies and nursing to name just a few, student numbers have been in growth mode for over 10 years.
“We are one of the fastest growing colleges in the country in terms of part-time student numbers”, said Anton Barrett, DkIT’s Head of Lifelong Learning. The selection of part-time courses, available range from Certificate to Postgraduate level. Many will be delivered wholly online or in blended format, which is a combination of online and on-campus teaching. DkIT’s part-time courses are designed with employability in mind and have been carefully developed with industry partners to make sure we are creating courses that are suitable for the current job market.
Kevin Adams completed a part-time Certificate in Digital Marketing and Digital Media Management and said of his learning experience “Going back to DkIT turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made" he also added “Between 2018 and 2020 I attended two brilliant evening courses: Digital Marketing and Digital Media Management and Management Studies. I can’t recommend the experience enough. What impressed me the most was how dedicated the lecturers and college staff were in developing each of their students.”
Caron Hourigan another successful part-time student of DkIT who completed a Certificate in Leadership, Management and Business for the Early Years, stated, “The course was 100% online which was brilliant, it was so accessible and engaging. In my opinion if you have enough time in an evening to sit down and watch Coronation Street, you have enough time to click a link and do an online course."
Christopher Boyle, Pipeline Technical Director, Boulder Media | Higher Diploma in 3D Computer Animation, “The flexibility of the part-time course at DkIT meant that I could work during the day and log onto the online classes in the evening. I only needed to come to the campus in Dundalk 3-4 times each semester, which was a massive bonus.”
If you are thinking of starting a new course this year, think DkIT as you will be guaranteed a warm welcome with small class sizes making for a personable learning experience.
DkIT have a fantastically diverse range of part-time courses starting this January with over 32 different offerings in total which span across all DkIT’s four Schools, Health & Science, Business & Humanities, Informatics & Creative Arts to Engineering.
