DkIT Hosts Creative Arts Research and Writing EventDKIT

Members of the Creative Arts Research Centre (CARC) in Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) gathered on 10 January to share, explore and develop ideas for future research project and funding applications. Creative Arts is a prioritized research area at DkIT and the centre has been very active in developing and disseminating research.

The CARC team were delighted to welcome Professor John O’Flynn from DCU, who shared some insights and advice based on his own experience of successfully applying for and developing postdoctoral research. Although an expert in music, O’Flynn was able to speak to the diverse areas of research amongst the CARC team.

The team also engaged in workshops facilitated by DkIT staff members Dr Kayla Rush from the Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music and Dr Josh Moody from the Research Office at DkIT. Rush led the team in brainstorming and sharing ideas about research, which helped the team recognize synergies that already exist. Moody focused in on funding schemes operated by the Irish Research Council, providing some advice and tips on approaching writing applications.

The Creative Arts Research Centre (CARC) has continued to grow postgraduate research numbers at DkIT, particularly in music and creative media, including two Irish Research Council (IRC) and three Technological University Transformation Funding (TUTF) postgraduate research scholarships.
