The Contemporary Culture and Society programme has changed it’s title to the BA in Social Sciences and Cultural Innovation
The BA in Social Sciences and Cultural Innovation is a unique offering in Irish higher education, providing students with a wide variety of quality modules from diverse disciplines. The programme brings an applied focus to the field of Social Sciences, in particular the disciplines of Culture, Media and Politics, as well as areas such as social entrepreneurship and cultural innovation. Coupled with this, recognising the value of having both in-depth, vertical knowledge in specific disciplines, as well as horizontal competencies applicable to all fields, the programme places a strong focus on developing the key transferable skills required for our rapidly changing world. This includes modules focused on creativity, future thinking, applied ethics, critical thinking, digital literacy, and intercultural competence.
The BA in Social Sciences and Cultural Innovation offers both flexibility and focus, as students have the opportunity to explore multiple disciplines, before going on to specialise in their area of choice. Importantly, the programme provides the possibility of a year-long INTRA work placement, or a Year Abroad studying in one of our partner universities. The programme is designed for students who not only want to understand the many forces that shape people, societies, nations and our world, but who also want to develop the competencies needed to develop creative strategies to tackle major issues, and empower themselves to pursue a career they are passionate about.
