National Tour Guiding 6S20232

QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award

Aim:

This Fáilte Ireland approved course is tailored for those already working in the Tourism/Hospitality sector or with relevant experience looking to up-skill and qualify for the ‘Fáilte Ireland National Tourist Guide badge ’. This is a nationally recognised qualification delivered by industry experts.

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to acquire the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to provide guiding and tour management services for tourists visiting and traveling in Ireland.

Places are limited and course entry is subject to relevant qualifications and interview based. Short-listing and interview process applies.

Course Fee: €1200

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • QQI Level 5 award, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification, and/or relevant life and work experience.

 

  • Relevant tourism sector experience is essential for this course.
  • Good communication skills are essential, including verbal and written command of the English language. Must have good basic computer skills.
  • Applicants must be self-motivated, eager to learn, possess good interpersonal skills and have an outgoing, friendly personality. Must be able to integrate and relate to a variety of individuals and groups and have an interest in the tourism industry and tour guiding.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Irish cultural, built and natural heritage
  • Demonstrate a range of communication; information and customer care skills to offer a professional and positive presentation of Ireland as a tourist destination.
  • Develop digital media skills to enhance the tour experience, to promote potential products and services and exploit employment opportunities.
  • Manage and conduct tours on behalf of a tour operator or as a self-employed guide, implementing best safety and environmental practice.
  • Demonstrate specialist tour guiding and tour management skills and techniques

Tuesday evening: 6.30-9.30

Thursday evening: 6.30-9.30

Saturday Day: 9.30-4.00



 

Regional Tour Guiding ,QQI Level 6 6620233

Special Purpose Award

Aim:

This Fáilte Ireland approved course in regional and local tourist guiding is designed for people who provide or wish to provide a range of regional and local guiding services to visitors and qualify for the ‘Fáilte Ireland National Tourist Guide badge ’. This is a nationally recognized qualification delivered by industry experts. It will equip participants with the professional, technical, social and administrative skills to offer a quality guiding service to a range of market profiles and requirements.

Participants will understand the structures and profile of the tourism and hospitality sectors; will provide an accurate, informative and interesting regional or local tour experience; will demonstrate skills in outdoor leadership, guiding and group management; will implement best safety and environmental practice in the tour experience

  • Reflect on operational practice to inform future performance and professional development
